Working out in half the time!
I can sympathize with everyone but you MUST realize the significant role psychology plays into it all.
Are you a stress eater? Boredom eater? Depressed? I’ve been there and hope my experiences can help you, the way they have helped me and hundred’s of others.
In 1986 I graduated from high school weighing 150 pounds at 5’11. I was so skinny you could actually see my heart beating through my chest. I was determined to get into shape. I walked into a garage that was turned into a gym, and at 150 pounds it was very intimidating.
My first “conversation” in the gym was with a humongous man who felt I was taking too long and threw me off a shoulder press. I put my chin down and humbly walked away, but never left. I was more determined than ever.
There were no personal trainers or nutritionists back then so I took it upon myself to ask any male or female what they did to get in shape. I would keep notebooks try different workout routines and would constantly ask questions.
I became my own experiment. I was not genetically gifted so I can associate with everyone out there. Some routines worked better than others and I would improve on those workouts that I knew were most effective.
I learned early on that without discipline and a commitment, there would be no results. I went from 150 pounds to a healthy 185 pounds in 2 years. Although my diet was poor, I managed to get in good shape by “accidentally” eating 6 to 7 times a day.
Then disaster! I joined the greatest fraternity in the world, and began enjoying the fraternity life immediately. Partying every night (and sometimes in the a.m.),no studying, no structure, no discipline, a G.P.A. of 1.2. and a weight gain of over 80 lbs.
I decided on Christmas morning that I would forever include fitness in my everyday life. IIt would add the structure and discipline i needed to be successful.
About to fail out of U.R.I my greater concern was losing 80 lbs and getting back into shape, and feeling good/proud of myself. I scheduled my workouts to be 6 days a week at 2:30 p.m. everyday. The simple step of scheduling my workouts freed up time to study and added the structure and discipline I needed to be successful.
I made Dean’s List each succesive semester with courses such as Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Nutrition, Physiology, Weight Training and Nutrition.
In my senior year, I started one of Rhode Islands FIRST personal training buisness, BodyWorks and began working nonstop
I earned a B.S. from U.R.I in Physical Education, Adapted P.E, and Health Education while working fulltime expanding my fitness buisness.
Upon graduation I became a Physical Education teacher in Providence and my personal training business continued to grow, helping hundred’s of Rhode Islander’s lose thousands of pounds, lowering their cholesterol and improving their quality of life all in an nonintimidating, private atmosphere.
However, back to my weight loss...there were still no nutritionists or trainers at the time. I spent 3 hours a day, every day, in the gym working out and educating myself on the most efficient, successful, realistic, permanent way to loose weight.
The first thing i noticed was that 3 hours was 2 to 2 ½ hours too long. I was constantly injuring myself, and due to over training, my muscles were beginning to atrophy. I was losing muscle. I learned "less is more" when it comes to strength training and soon saw greater results in half the time.
In my 30’s my muscles became slower to heal after workouts as my gains and results plateaued.
In an attempt to gain back what I was losing and increase my results, I fell victim to "more" has to be better. I worked out longer and harder than ever. Bad decision!!
That sped up my muscle loss as injuries increased. How could that be? Growing up we were ALWAYS taught that the harder, onger and more effort we put into something ,the greater the results.
That may be true in the "outside" world but when you enter the "fitness" world everything is different. For example where else is failure encouraged? In the "fitness" world your goal is to work the muscle to "failure". This "breaks" the muscle down.
Our bodies are brilliant and begin to tone, tighten and repair our muscles stronger than before. . This is exactly how you tone up and lose fat! The older we get the longer the "muscle repair" process .This is why more is not better when it comes to fitness training.
So...I returned to Contraction Training and once again saw an immediate change in my physique. My metabolism went through the roof as my bodyfat plummeted.
Best of all I was spending half my usual hour in the gym and achieving greater results.
I was in far better shape (stronger, increased endurance, lower body fat)at 35 years old than i was 25. I'm now 41 and AGAIN am leaner, stronger and in better shape than I was at 35. Contraction Training is GUARANTEED to do the same for you.
In 1995 I developed QuickFit. an award winning 30 minute fat burning, muscle toning workout in conjunction with Contraction Training - my unique, efficient and effective method of resisistance training. Beleived to be the greatest training method in the world. Improvements in your physique are NOT/NEVER accompished by lifting weights, 100% of your success IS accomplished by contracting the specific muscle doing the work. I guarantee you will feel the difference in one repetition, even if you have been working out for years. You will never "lift" a weight the same again.
Soon after I wrote a 15 page diet booklet EXPOSING the myths, misconceptions, gimmicks and fads that pollute the fitness and nutrition industry.
Through to the "secrets" I exposed and the "truths" I revealed, the booklet became a success providing me numerous motivational speaking engagements, including All-American Football camps as well as Corporate and children's groups.
Using QuickFit and Contraction Training, I lost over 60 lbs and my bodyfat dropped to 9 %. I have been sharing the “SECRET” with my clients ever since and have helped hundreds of Rhode Islanders lose thousands of pounds of fat
The “SECRET” is simple. Strength + Structure = Success!!
